Ye Shall Receive Power ...

…”Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me…unto the uttermost parts of the world”

I begin by giving thanks to my God and your God for His goodness and His never ending faithfulness.  What an awesome God we serve.  Such a gracious Father, such a loving God.  I will forever bless You my God.  I will forever be thankful to You for loving me and for the privilege of having access to You.

My dear reader, if you know me, you would know how I simply cannot stop glorying in the privilege that it is simply having access to God.  I mean this is the God of whom I read in the Bible.  That book which was written as holy men of God were moved upon by the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit also the great One who we are told in the book of Genesis moved upon the face of the earth at the point of creation indicating the Awesome power that He is.  Yes, the Holy Spirit is power.  The Holy Spirit is the very life of God.  I truly find it such a wonder and I get moved to the very core of my being by all that I could possibly try to understand of our God.

When I begin to consider and to digest all that I could possibly fathom of God (in my understanding) I am always awe struck.  I mean, I read of the great stories in the Bible that feature people who were used by God; such as my man Moses in the story about the King Pharaoh, the Red Sea and the deliverance of the children of Israel.  My men Elijah and Elisha, my man Daniel in the Lion’s Den, my men Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego, my man Samuel the prophet, my men Gideon, David, Joshua, Paul and ... my Lord Jesus…   It’s not on purpose that the aforementioned are all men, it just so happens that they feature in some of the great stories in the Bible from which I get the opportunity to stop, ponder and reflect upon the great power of the mighty God who related with these individuals at that time and more importantly, that I now have the privilege to walk with and have Him in my life as I do.

When I do begin to consider and digest my thoughts and reflections of God and all that I could possibly fathom of Him (in my understanding…) I am always awe struck; and all this because of the great work of Salvation that came about in Jesus Christ our Lord going to the cross in the obedience.

Yes I am eternally thankful and grateful.  I am not perfect by far; having my own shortcomings but I do love God from the depths of my heart and like David, I believe God knows this of me.  I love Him soooooooooooo dearly with my shortcomings and all …. and I simply love to shout it out loud ‘I love the Lord Jesus’ and going further to dare say ‘I believe I am His favourite but let’s just leave that in brackets shall we?  Ok…so it’s not in brackets and I guess I really did want to leave that statement in her there.  There you go, shouting it out loud, I love the Lord and He loves me’ (although I know in all honestly I’m not the only one who feels this way) that is how awesome God truly is.   This great God who can make Himself so personal to each one of us as if we are the only ones on this earth.  Amazing.

Simply, in my love for God, I just want everyone to know about God.  Well when I say everyone (everyone near me or that I can reach, but of course with regards the bigger picture, I do desire that everyone at large will know about the Lord.)

I will go back to that sentence I mentioned early from the Old Testament …’that it may be known that I am the Lord.’  That was also the sentiment of the prophet Elijah i.e. let Your glory and Your power come down THAT IT MAY BE KNOWN THAT YOU ARE GOD.  I am simply just sooooooo awe struck with our God of the Bible.  I adore Him so.  I love Him so…

So then coming back to where I deviated when I mentioned those men who were so privileged as to have had the hand of God upon their lives to make them demonstrations of the fact that His is the Kingdom, the power and the glory. He is God.

You know in the old testament, there are numerous times that we read ‘that it might be known that I am God’…‘that it might be known that I am God’… and now I find that this has become my passion.  I say it has now become my passion but truly if we consider that we have
been sent to earth with a set purpose from before the foundations of the world, then I can say that I have come to discover that my passion is that ‘it may be known that God is God’.

I thank You Lord that You will make this manifest to the ultimate purpose to glorify YOUR NAME.  THANK YOU JESUS.  THANK YOU FATHER. THANK YOU HOLY SPIRIT.

Ok so let’s get back to this piece of writing…

”Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me…unto the uttermost parts or the world”

My dear reader I want to thank you so much for taking time to read this the third in the ‘Empowered, Arise & Shine’ series.  It is great to know that you are keeping in step with the series and more importantly, that you are being blessed.

So then … ”Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me… unto the uttermost parts of the world’ … I guess this is probably the reason why I began writing in thanksgiving to God because just look at that scripture verse in Acts 1:8, how powerful is that?  I don’t know about you but that certainly excites me greatly.  It excites me when I begin to think of and reflect upon God, all He that He is; all that pertains to His Kingdom and the ‘things of God.

…Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me…unto the uttermost parts of the world’

There in this title is power, Holy Ghost, witnesses unto me.  IT IS ALL ABOUT GOD.  We are His sheep.

We are custodians of the agenda of God in this world.

Every person who comes to walk with God has to become a demonstration of the existence of God.  They must begin to boast of God’s glory until the fulfilment of scripture verses such as ‘every knee will bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord’;  the whole earth shall be filled with (His glory and) the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea’ etc., etc…paraphrased on purposed
.

We serve a great God but the thing is that even IF it wasn’t the truth that God is a BIG God, the truth remains GOD IS SIMPLY GOD.

He is still the MAIN ONE…HE IS GOD and His greatest desire is that all men would know this.  We are told in the Bible that God desires that all men will come to the knowledge of Him.

So, again coming back to the title of this piece….Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me…unto the uttermost parts of the world’

Could you imagine the heart of a parent whose child does not know who they are?  I don’t believe it’s possible to even comprehend that unless one can actually relate to the scenario.

God desires that all men will come to the knowledge of who He is.  That He is God, that He is the maker of all things.  Can you imagine the heartbreak of having created someone who completely turns away from you and acknowledges all other things that you’ve created in the stead of you, the creator.

I’m not sure which is the greater, heartbreak or insult.  But you know, our God though He is a jealous God, and a consuming fire, He has a huge heart of compassion and thus I would think God would consider it more a heartbreak than an insult regarding those who do not know Him.  Of course I believe there is another scenario, namely that of those who have the audacity to deny God choosing rather to embrace other things in terms of religion, idols and the like in place of God.   This latter is different in that those who fall in this category actually do believe in a greater and supreme power, only they blatantly refuse to acknowledge that this supreme One is in fact Jehovah God.

Now touching upon the compassionate heart of God, He would still like those fitting in the latter scenario to turn away from their folly and pride because that is truly what it is when one chooses to believe in and ascribe power and might to something other than God Himself...I will stop here on this chapter in order to get back on course…
